Stuffed animals: Preserved specimens bring an unmistakeable element of realism to the classroom.

One way students learn about nature in Bearden’s Wildlife Principles class is by studying animals preserved through taxidermy. While Bearden’s collection of taxidermied species was in horrible shape after years of wear and use, recently retired Wildlife teacher Bob Savry left behind freezers full of amazing specimens...red fox, beaver, coyote, bear, deer, ball python, chipmunks and more! In 2018-19, the Foundation awarded funds for a taxidermy specialist to transform the frozen, preserved remains into new classroom creatures to benefit student learning.
